Phân Biệt Good Và Well

Phân biệt good và well vốn không khó nhưng một số bạn vân mắc phải một số lỗi khi sử dụng chúng. Trong bài viết dưới đây, Góc Tiếng Anh sẽ trình bày các ý chính về hai từ này. Good từ loại là tính từ, well được sử dụng như trạng từ ngoại trừ trường hợp ám chỉ về sức khỏe thì nó đóng vai trò là tính từ.

Ví dụ:

 Peter is a good swimmer. (correct) - Peter is a well swimmer (incorrect)

Ví dụ:

Peter plays the piano well. (correct) - Peter plays the piano good. (incorrect)

Ví dụ:

Brian speaks good English, but he doesn't speak Spanish very well. (correct)

Ví dụ:

 Brian speaks well English, but he doesn't speak Spanish very good. (incorrect)

Sau các linking verb như be, taste, sound, smell, look, seem, appear ta sử dụng tính từ good.

Ví dụ:

The concert last night wasn't very good.

Ví dụ:

 Your idea sounds good and if it works would be great.

Ví dụ:

 It always smells good after the rain.

Tuy nhiên, sau các linking verb như  "be", "feel", "look" ta cũng có thể sử dụng well như một tính từ mang ý nghĩa khỏe mạnh.

Ví dụ:

Jane didn't look well last night.

Ví dụ:

 I am well. / I feel well. / I'm feeling well.
